The Baby Einstein Discovering Water Play Gym was yet another product that I had in my “keep them entertained” arsenal, before my boys were mobile. This cute play gym with it’s colorful characters and classical music certainly entertained my babies, allowing me to get some things done around the house. My boys would bat at the hanging toys and kick the soft gym, turning the music and lights on. Often I got a good 15-20 minutes of playtime, which is a lot for a very young infant. My oldest son was also fascinated with the starfish mirror and his reflection. Once my children started rolling onto their tummies, we used it as a tummy time mat, again because of the vibrant colors and different textures of fabric on the mat. Overall, I was very happy to have had the Baby Einstein Discovering Water Play Gym for the first 6 months of both of my children’s childhood.

I loved my Ocean Wonders Aquarium Bouncer when my boys were little. My boys seemed to do so well whenever I put them in this bouncer. They were quiet and calm, and it allowed me to get a lot of things done around the house. I took this bouncer to every room with me and would put my baby boys in it, and get a good half hour of peace and entertainment. Often times, the soothing vibrations and music would even get them to sleep for a nice long nap. I ended up using it for about 6 months with each, because that was around the time they started to pull up to a sitting position.

The Fisher Price Ocean Wonders Aquarium Bouncer is a great chair that keeps babies entertained with lights, sounds, and music. It features four selections of music & sounds: lullabies, ocean waves, summer rain and babbling brook. The removable toy bar has fish that spin around as lights and bubbles dance around them, as well as a seahorse teether and fish spinner hanging from the toy bar that the baby can bat at while in the bouncer. Whenever the baby moves or kicks their feet, the soft padded seat gently bounces adding to the baby’s enjoyment. The Aquarium Bouncer also has harness straps to secure the baby in the bouncer and keep them safe. The seat and harness are all machine washable and dryer safe, which makes for really easy clean up. But by far my favorite part of this bouncer had to be the vibration mode which is similar to that of a car ride. It always seemed to calm my kids down whenever I put on the vibration mode, in addition to the music and the lights. Overall, a great product for keeping your kids happy, occupied, and entertained during that time before they are able to sit up on their own.

The Evenflo Exersaucer is a fun and colorful activity learning center for babies. It may seem like your little one will only use this item for a few months, but oh what a glorious few months those can be! My son loves his Exersaucer. It keeps him happily occupied for long stretches at a time, which allow mommy to get things done around the house, such as loading the dishwasher without him trying to load himself into it! He loves that he can bounce up and down and play with toys, all while spinning around 360 degrees. Even when he is not sitting in the Exersaucer, he’s cruising over to it and holding onto it standing up, trying to play with all of the toys. Also, it’s quite portable, so I can bring it into whatever room I need and he’s right there in view.

The Evenflo Exersaucer has seven toys arranged in a 360 degree fashion around the child as he sits in the center. The seat is removable and washable. The Exersaucer can be adjusted to 3 different heights so that it can grow with your child. There are also 3 flip-down feet which stabilize the unit if you do not want your little one bouncing around too much. The manufacturer recommended age of use is at least 4 months. From my own experience, I believe it is best if your child has great head control and pretty good trunk control as well, which was a little older than the recommended 4+ months.

I have very active kids, who are constantly in motion and absolutely love jumping! I noticed that every time I would hold my son under his arms, all he wanted to do was kick his legs and jump up and down. I got the Fisher Price Jumperoo when my oldest son was young, and not quite able to walk yet, with the hopes that it would help him burn off any extra energy and satisfy that urge to kick their legs. It’s that time of year again when the weather is starting to get cold, and blankets never seem to stay on with a wiggly infant in a carseat. Also, infants tend to be particularly impatient when it comes to being dressed in several layers of clothing.

My son was born in March of last year and here it stays cold until somewhere around May. When my son was 14 months old, we planned a two week trip to Poland to visit with my grandparents (his great-grandparents) and we brought the Sit ‘n Stroll Carseat/Stroller with us. The Graco Pack ‘n Play is one item which I did not realize would get used so much. I initially thought of it as a luxury item, but decided fairly quickly that it was one of my “must haves” after seeing how I used it on a daily basis for various reasons.

At first my Graco Pack ‘n Play was in our downstairs livingroom, where I used it as a changing table and a secondary sleeping area (i.e. bassinet). It then came with us on a month long trip to Florida when my son was 8 months old, where it was used as a portable crib. After my son outgrew it for sleeping, I used it as toy storage for months in the living room. Then my second son arrived, and my older son was still in his crib at that time. So instead of buying a bassinet or second crib, we used the Pack ‘n Play in our bedroom as bassinet until my youngest turned 6 months old. Then we came full circle with it returning to the living room. It now gets used as a safe play area for my son, and provides him with a nice way to practice cruising.

The Pack ‘n Play is very easy to put together and fold down for portability. It is also easily changed from bassinet to crib. The mattress pad is a nice quilted material and the sides are mesh for good ventilation and visibility. It comes with a carrying case, basically the size of a large duffel bag. Graco makes these in so many patterns and colors, and they usually match their other items such as swings, strollers, highchairs, etc. Graco, as well as other companies such as Eddie Bauer, make sheet sets for the Pack ‘n Play, for when you need to use them as a sleeping area. There comes that awkward stage in a baby’s development when they are interested in exploring the world but they still are not able to sit upright without some sort of support. I loved the Bumbo Seat during this stage because it allowed me to free up both of my hands and play with my sons, plus it kept them happy by allowing them to be in an upright position.

This is truly one item I could not be without - everywhere I go, it goes too. I use it several times a day for feeding my 7 month old. I also used it throughout my older sons first year for feeding, tummy time, and supported sitting.
